Open Match-27th January 2008-Match Lake

OpenMatch-27th January 2008-Match Lake - 2008/01/27 14:14

There were nine anglers out today fishing in the most clement of weather conditions.

Jonathan Davies chose peg 17 and fished it to perfection. First of all fishing 8mm banded pellet to the island and then making use of being the end peg fishing corn to the platform of peg 16. He finished up with a good bag of carp although it was not until the late stages that they showed up in the margins.

Meanwhile over on peg 28 the former World Champion Ian Heaps was trying to make an impression on the eventual winner. Fishing both corn and 8mm pellets sometimes together he ended up with a respectable bag of small carp.

On peg 21 yours truly was making no impression on the above and it took a 12lb carp at the death to obtain a reasonable weight.

1st Jonathan Davies.....56lb 0oz....Peg 17.
2nd Ian Heaps...........52lb 10oz...Peg 28.
3rd Keith Tuson.........29lb 0oz....Peg 21.

Neil Daniels neck was giving him problems again today. Positioned on peg 19 he didn't know which way to turn. You could hear the crack echoing along the bank every time either Jonathan or myself hooked a fish. The last time Neil selected peg 19 Dark Horse took him to the cleaners. Better luck next time eh!!!!!
