Match Lake Open-6th February 2008

Match Lake Open-6th February 2008 - 2008/02/07 01:07

We were graced with the presence of John Charlesworth today. He thought he was about to fish the Carp Lake but when he was informed that the Match Lake was the venue the expletives were hard on the ear. "No f fish in that lake" was followed by "never caught a f fish in that lake" backed up with "I hate that f lake" all in his own inimitable Swansea drawl. Peg 26 was his home for the day and his worst fears almost materialised as he spent the first couple of hours fishless. It wasn't until late on that the peg came alive, and John in his usual quiet manner caught fish at regular intervals towards the all out.

It was not to be Johns day though as regular visitor from Wolverhampton Shane Morgan was fishing the match of his life on the much fancied peg 17. In recent weeks this has been the place to be with regular good catches emerging from its depths. Shane who is Colin Carpets grandson, and was probably supplied with inside information, snared a magnificent 60+lb

Kevin Roberts couldn't repeat his heroics of the weekend even though he was perfectly placed on peg 12.

1st Shane Morgan.......68lb 0oz....Peg 17
2nd John Charlesworth..39lb 0oz....Peg 26
3rd Keith Tuson........26lb 4oz....Peg 4
