Club Match-6th January 2008 Match Lake - 2008/01/06 13:29

A good turn out for the 1st Club Match of the year saw the in form Lewis Spink take the honours, with his partner in crime Jim Hutton pushing him all the way.

The weather held few surprises the only highlight was the sunshine grin on Lewis' face. After a fairly lean time in the past few months Lewis caught steadily all through the match. Fishing corn on a waggler off Peg 7 to the island he landed a number of stockies and a couple of decent carp and still had time to vacate his box and offer advice to a newcomer, which was, I might add greatly appreciated by the recipient.

All the anglers in the first six places fished corn as the maggot was not working today. The only person to alter his bait was Mark Close who changed to 8mm hard pellet and snared a couple of carp.

1st Lewis Spink 32lb 4oz Peg 7.
2nd Jim P Hutton 28lb 4oz Peg 20.
3rd Eric Rimmer 25lb 12oz Peg 3.
4th Mark Close 25lb 4oz Peg 17.
5th Richard Baldwin 23lb 2oz Peg 21.
6th Kevin Roberts 18lb 12oz Peg 6.

15 anglers took part and over 270lb of fish were caught. For a cold day in early January it was a decent return.
