Club Match-3rd February 2008-Match Lake. - 2008/02/03 13:45

Well what a day. I thought we were over the worst after the last fortnight but today was very wet, very windy and extremely cold. But in saying that some reasonable weights were taken from an extremely choppy Match Lake.

It was decided that peg 13 would be put in today. I don't think it has been fished since the Autumn Festival when it proved so costly to Nigel Morris. However the newest member of the club Kevin Roberts secured the dreaded unlucky number. Fishing on corn and/or caster by way of waggler to the island it seemed from where I was through the rain that he was catching fish and my eyes were not deceived as Kevin returned a very respectable 50+lb.

On peg 21 Richard Baldwin was trying to keep ahead of the pack. On the waggler at various depths he was creeping up on unsuspecting carp and frightening the life out of them with his bunches of corn. However it was all in vain as he finished second but I still bet he gave Neil Morgan another severe earache all the way back to Caerphilly. Although Neil did pretty well himself on peg 3 fishing corn to the sunken island.

Dark Horse was at it again on peg 19 snaring a few bream and stockies for 34lb. Can't seem to keep him quiet these days!!!!!

This was Kevin Roberts first win at a Club event and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him wholeheartedly.
