28th March 2007-Match Lake - 2007/03/28 14:24
333lb of fish between six anglers. That was todays return from the Match Lake. It was dull and even foggy at times but most of all it was frigging cold. A Siberian easterly made fishing the pole at any decent length almost impossible. Neil Daniels chose to fish the pellet waggler most of the day and what a choice it was. Over 100lb he managed from the corner of the island, with the odd trip into the margins to bag an unsuspecting carp. The only trouble was he kept saying to me 'hows your neck Keith'. Well Neil let me tell you, my necks alright but I do have severe earache which was caused by the continual commentary coming from you. Ian Heaps snuck his way into second spot with a catch of 70lb+. I'm sure he knows these fish by name. 1st Neil Daniels 112lb 12oz Peg 21 2nd Ian Heaps 72lb Peg 6 3rd Keith Tuson 50lb 8oz Peg 19 4th Mark Goodall 45lb 8oz Peg 10 5th Richard Payne 28lb Peg 17 6th Colin Bates 24lb 8oz Peg 8 A pretty good days fishing, although Mark thought he had fished badly. Twelve months ago 45lb would have won the lake easily. It just shows you how far the fishery has matured when 45lb is nowhere near enough. The Open on Sunday is on the Match Lake and I bet Drawbag Daniels the Sketty Slinger will draw a good peg again. |
