Willis Worms Festival 2010
Features - Features

This weekend, 12/13 June saw the annual Willis Worms Match held here at Holgan Farm. This annual event usually attracts a field from far and wide due to the £500 added to the prize fund by the sponsor, Denzil Thorpe of Willis Worms.

30 anglers were split between the Carp and Match Lakes and fished both lakes over the 2 days, the only stipulation being caster and worm only allowed.

Results are as follows:

1st Tim Peters (Leeds) 217-6

2nd Paul Williams 195-2

3rd Stu Hipkins 161-6

4th Les Thompson 160-8

5th Roger Summerscales 158-5

6th John Howell 158-2

Heaviest Fish Ritchie Hogan 13-8 (£100 prize)

Spring Festival Results 2010
Results - Results

The festival limit of 42 anglers attended the Ian Heaps Spring Festival this past week at Holgan Farm. Die hard festival competitors from years gone by know to bring plenty of wet weather gear with them but for once it wasn't needed and sunglasses and sun cream were the order of the day.

This was the last festival using the present format of 3 festival matches alternating with 3 open matches as the decision has been made to revert to the old system from October of 6 festival matches with the option of dropping your worst result. This has the advantage of keeping your hopes alive even if you bomb out on the first day, in simple terms the best 5 results from 6 will count towards your points total.

As usual Chris Barley set off as Festival favourite based on his previous form but there were a few new faces this year so time would tell who would occupy the winner's podium this year.
